Sabaq Digital Learning Satchel

Designed for the 275,000 pupils of Karachi-based educational charity, The Citizens Foundation, the Sabaq satchel was designed as a tablet-based digital learning platform that would promote pride of ownership, protect the tablet when not in use, and provide the school children with space for other school supplies and food.

Needs-based design and a soft goods solution

A unique solution developed following a research trip to rural schools and villages in Pakistan to look needs, both at school and at home.

The final design, though prototyped in leather and stitched by hand, by FutureMade, was conceived as a solution capable of being locally produced from whatever materials were readily available.

The tablet was encased in a custom housing to provide attachment points.

Securing points in the leatherwork allow the tablet to be positioned at different angles to tune the ergonomics depending on the type of work being done, and whether a keyboard accessory was being used with it.
